Modularity is a key architechtural decision both on the hardware and the software side. Depending upon the solution, the appropriate hardware/software combination is available.

The solution consists of two components, the gateway installed on the premises and optionally the SCADA to aggregate and display the data.
Integration with any other third-party platform is ensured through open and documented interfaces.
The connection to the meters can be done via either KNX, ethernet or Modbus or any possible combination of the technologies mentioned.
The data is cached on the gateway and can be sent in a secure way over the internet via either wifi, fixed or mobile internet.
Given that the data is cached, a permanent internet connection is not required.

The demand for secure remote access is growing rapidly, driven by the new wave of Internet of Things.
More and more systems are automated and require maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades and remote access in a secure way as it is no longer economically viable to physically go on site and connect locally to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
This is especially true in the case of control systems that are deployed in large numbers and only require access on an occasional basis.

- a virtual switch per customer in the cloud to guarantee a secure environment
- a simple portal to get an overview of all devices
- a simple one-click solution to setup and tear down the VPN tunnel on the gateway
- a way to access the gateway via Full Qualified Domain Names instead of IP addresses
- A simple pricing model based on the gateway and the number of concurrent connections to the virtual switch
